Kashi Vishwanath Temple  

Why?
  • It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (the holiest of Shiva temples)
  • The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganges
  • The main deity is known by the name Vishwanatha or Vishweshwara meaning Ruler of the universe
  • It has been destroyed and re-constructed a number of times in the history
  • The last structure was demolished by Aurganzeb, who constructed the Gyanvapi Mosque on its site

  1. Mangala aarti (3:00am - 4:00am)
  2. Bhog aarti (11:15 am - 12:20 pm)
  3. Sandhya aarti (7:00 pm - 8:15 pm)
  4. Shringar aarti (9:00 pm - 10:15 pm)
  5. Shayan aarti (10:30 pm - 11:00 pm)
