Naroshankara Temple

Why?
  • Sacross the river from Ramkund. The temple is dedicated to Shiva.
  • Boasts of an enormous church bell, taken off the Portuguese by Chimaji Appa during the battle of Vasai (Bassein) in 1739.
  • Its piercing sound gave rise to that famous Marathi term for a person who speaks in an irritatingly highpitched voice — ‘naroshankarachi ghanta’.
