Ita Fort

Why to visit?
  • One of the old and renowned marvel of ancient religion.
  • The Fort of bricks from which the capital derives its name – Itanagar.
  • The total brickwork is of 16,200 cubic metre lengths. 
  • Around 8 million bricks and 45,000 man-days were consumed for the construction of
  • This fort had an irregular shape built mainly with bricks dating back
  •  to 14th - 15th century of Mayapur of Ramachandra, a kind of Jitari dynasty.
  • 3 magnificent gates from where one can have a beautiful view of the surroundings hills and vegetation.
  • Archaeological finds from the site are on displayed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Museum.
